‘No Evidence’ Of Student-To-Student Transmission: Cardy

New Brunswick’s education minister said there is no evidence of student to student transmission in provincial schools.

During a government briefing in Fredericton, Dominic Cardy said as of Monday night, seven schools had confirmed cases and possible exposure of COVID-19 in the Saint John and Fredericton health zones.

Cardy said two childcare centres were also impacted over the last week.

He understands this news causes fear and anxiety for many families.

“But, we have reason to be optimistic. Throughout all of our planning, in addition to the experiences that we have already gained during previous outbreaks in Zones 1 and 5 in October, they have allowed us to be able to launch a coordinated response to rapidly evolving situations concerning the pandemic,” Cardy said.

In Campbellton this fall, where 13 cases were identified at schools, the region was able to return to the yellow phase within four weeks.
