Many New Brunswickers will see extra money in their bank accounts this week.
Carbon tax rebates will go out to eligible residents on Monday, if they have not already.
A family of four will get $184 through the rebate while single adults will receive $92.
Those living outside the Saint John and Moncton census metropolitan areas will get a 10 per cent rural supplement.
The first rebate came in October as a double payment to cover the July through December periods.
New Brunswickers must have submitted their annual tax return to get the rebate.
The province announced last February that it would join the federal backstop and dump its own carbon pricing plan.
Ottawa applied the federal backstop fuel charge in New Brunswick — and the other Atlantic provinces — on July 1.
Residents now pay 14.3 cents for every litre of regular gasoline, up from the previous rate of 11 cents.
Our rebates are lower than what families in other jurisdictions receive. Officials said that is because the main heating sources used in our province, such as wood and electricity, are not subject to the fuel charge.
