The Canadian Labour Congress releasing figures showing unionised workers in the province as a whole earn an average of $7.61 an hour more which translates into more than 27 million dollars a week for the New Brunswick economy.
C-L-C President Hassan Yusuff says it’s a story union members themselves should be telling others who may wonder why having unions is good for everyone whether they belong to a union or not
The C-L-C claims women who belong to a union earn, on average, more than 9 dollars an hour more than women in non-unionised workplaces and young workers in the province up to the age of 29 earn an additional $4.69 an hour if they belong to a union.
The C-L-C maintains, in Saint John, unionised workers earn $6.36 an hour more and that translates into an additional 4.6 million dollars for the local economy.
