Canada will play for gold at the World Juniors after a 6-2 victory over Team USA in the semifinals.

Joshua Roy had two goals and two assists for Team Canada in Wednesday night’s win in Halifax.

Team USA opened the game with a 2-0 lead in the first before Connor Bedard scored his ninth goal of the tournament midway through the first period.

Logan Stankoven tied the game at 2-2 just 47 seconds into the second period and Adam Fantilli scored the game-winning goal five minutes later.

Goaltender Thomas Milic was named player of the game, making 43 saves for Team Canada.

The Canadians will face Czechia in the gold medal game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Czechia beat Sweden 2-1 in overtime in the other semifinal on Wednesday afternoon.

It will be a rematch of sorts for Canada, which lost 5-2 to Czechia in the World Juniors opener on Boxing Day.

Meanwhile, Team USA and Sweden will play for bronze at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
