Canada Post uncertainty impacts driver’s licence, registration renewals

Motor vehicle services in New Brunswick are being impacted by the uncertainty at Canada Post.

Online driver’s licence renewals have been put on hold for the time being, according to the province.

Instead, you will have to renew in person at Service New Brunswick and pick it up at the same centre three weeks later.

You can still renew your vehicle registration online, but it will not be mailed out until the threat of a work stoppage is over.

“The motor vehicle system, with respect to vehicle registrations and driver’s licences, will be up to date for validation by police regardless of the work stoppage,” said a post on the government’s website.

However, if you plan on travelling outside of the province, you should visit an SNB centre to get your registration and updated stickers.

That is because renewal confirmations may not be accepted as proof of registration in other provinces, said the province.

Mailed reminders for driver’s licences and vehicle registration renewals have also been placed on hold for the time being.

You are encouraged to sign up for email registration reminders by opting out of receiving paper reminders in the mail.
