Call To Phase Out Temporary Foreign Workers Program

The Premiers who got together in the Yukon are being called on to support phasing out the Temporary Foreign Workers Programme. The call is being made by the Presidents of the various Labour Federations across the country.

New Brunswick Federation of Labour President Patrick Colford acknowledges there is a need for some employers to recruit foreign workers but it should be a path to citizenship. He reasons if they`re good enough to work here, they`re good enough to stay here.

Organised Labour charges the foreign workers are vulnerable to abuse because their right to stay in the country depends on the whims of their employers.
