Cabinet Positions In New Brunswick Shift After Election Results

Premier Brian Gallant announced 13 ministerial portfolios were changing hands Friday.

With four ministers leading 12 portfolios losing reelection bids, Gallant says ministers will be taking on additional roles to ensure elected MLAs are governing.

Dieppe MLA Roger Melanson will add fifth portfolio to his workload, that of acting minister of Energy and Resource Development.

Meanwhile, Moncton South MLA Cathy Rogers is taking on the responsibility of acting minister of the Regional Development Corporation.

Health Minister Benoit Bourque will be adding Aquaculture, and Fisheries to his responsibilities.

Restigouche West MLA Gilles Lepage will take over the department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, while Denis Landry is adding the acting ministership of Transportation and Infrastructure to his roles.

– Poverty Reduction and the Economic and Social Inclusion Corporation: John Ames to Stephen Horsman

– Transportation and Infrastructure: Bill Fraser to Denis Landry

– Deputy Government House Leader: Lisa Harris to Brian Kenny

– Enegry and Resource Development: Rick Doucet to Roger Melanson

– Northern Fund: Bill Fraser to Francine Landry

– Intergovernmental Affairs: Bill Fraser to Francine Landry

– Regional Development Corporation: Bill Fraser to Cathy Rogers

– Miramichi Fund: Bill Fraser to Lisa Harris

– Government House Leader: Rick Doucet to Lisa Harris

– Aquaculture and Fisheries: Rick Doucet to Benoit Bourque

– Agriculture, Mines, and Rural Affairs: Wilfred Roussel to Andrew Harvey

– Central New Brunswick: Bill Fraser to Andrew Harvey

– Tourism, Heritage and Culture: John Ames to Gilles Lepage

The additional portfolio assignments are effective immediately, and all changes are in an acting capacity.
