This could be a first……..None of the candidates running in today’s provincial byelection in Saint John East lives in the riding.
Conservative Glenn Savoie is the closest having previously represented Saint John Fundy before the ridings were reconfigured.
Liberal candidate Shelley Rinehart lives on the west side but points out she has longstanding ties to the riding.
NDP candidate Dominic Cardy says if he wins, he will move to the riding, and the fact he is a party leader will be a plus for the riding.
Green Party candidate Sharon Murphy lives in Rothesay.
Voter turnout in the advance polls for the by-election was higher than for the general election back in September.
The polls close at 8:00 tonight.
