This is a very busy year for construction in Moncton and drivers have likely noticed with work happening all over the city.
Moncton’s design and construction director says the value of construction is actually up by about 40 percent this summer over a typical year.
Alcide Richard says drivers need to be cautious and slow down in construction zones and pay close attention to flaggers.
“If a construction vehicle is backing out, they (flaggers) are the ones responsible for communicating that through paddles of stop, slow and what not. So it’s really about having a heightened awareness when approaching those construction sites.
Richard says drivers should keep in mind that construction workers are moms, dads, sisters and brothers just doing their jobs on their job sites.
