Business owner assaulted during theft: RCMP

Mounties are looking to identify a person of interest a business owner was assaulted during a theft in Irishtown.

Police said a man entered the business on Route 115 at around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and stole a number of liquor bottles.

“The business owner confronted the individual outside and was subsequently assaulted,” RCMP said in a news release on Thursday.

The business owner suffered minor injuries and the man fled the area as a passenger in a red vehicle.

Investigators have since identified the vehicle and its owner but are still looking to identify the man.

He is described as having an average build with dark hair, a short beard and a moustache.
