Boy Charged In Dumont Hospital Assault

A 15-year-old boy is facing charges after an assault which allegedly involved a nurse at the Dumont Hospital in Moncton.

Around 11 o’clock Monday night, Codiac RCMP responded to an assault at the hospital involving a boy and a 34-year-old man.

A source says the man was a nurse at the hospital.

RCMP arrested the boy at the scene and a weapon was used but police did not say what it was.

On Tuesday in Moncton provincial court, the boy was charged with several offences including assault, assault with a weapon, mischief and breach of conditions.

The teen was ordered to undergo a 30-day psychiatric examination and will return to court on July 10th.

This is the second reported assault involving a nurse at the Dumont Hospital this year.

Last week, 69-year-old Bruce Randolph “Randy” Van Horlick of Acadieville was charged with assault causing bodily harm related to an incident in March when a nurse was allegedly attacked.
