Booting By Law Gets Green Light From Moncton City Council

After a heated debate at Moncton City Council, a by law regulating booting is in effect, with all Councillors voting in favour of the motion except for Pierre Boudreau.

The debate focused on whether Council would double the booting fee to $90, after further research finding $45 was too low to allow companies to survive.

Of concern to some members of Council was that without booting companies, private lot owners would be forced to tow vehicles, which can be quite costly.

An amendment by Councillor Paul Pellerin saw the $45 be imposed as a maximum fee.

Councillors also supported a review of the booting by law to be presented to Council a year from now.
