BMM Testlabs will need to find a new location in Metro Moncton now that the company plans to create one thousand IT jobs over the next five years.
The Gallant government is providing up to $14 million in payroll rebates for the game testing company which currently has 50 employees in Dieppe.
BMM Testlabs CEO Martin Storm says the global company, headquartered in Las Vegas, chose Moncton over 12 other areas in North America for good reasons.
“One… it’s in the centre of the Northern Hemisphere, so it’s really well-positioned. Two… you have people who speak English and French,” he notes.
Storm says the company is in the process of finding new space, possibly several buildings, to house hundreds of new employees.
The opposition is not especially happy with provincial NDP Leader Dominic Cardy calling the announcement corporate welfare and noting how the former Conservative government gave the company payroll rebates to create 200 jobs with only 50 now based in Dieppe.
