Blaine Higgs Sworn-In As NB’s New Premier

Blaine Higgs has been sworn-in as the 34th Premier of New Brunswick.

The new Progressive Conservative cabinet was also unveiled today during a ceremony at the provincial legislature.

Robert Gauvin, the only francophone PC MLA elected, becomes deputy premier, minister of tourism and minister for the francophonie.

Moncton Northwest MLA Ernie Steeves in the new finance minister.

Former NDP leader Dominic Cardy, now a PC MLA, becomes education minister.

Moncton Southwest MLA Sherry Wilson is Minister of Service New Brunswick and Minister responsible for Women’s Equality.

Political newcomer, Mike Holland, who represents Albert, is Minister of Energy.

Rothesay MLA Ted Flemming is back in familiar territory as Minister of Health.

Robert Gauvin (Shippagan-Lamèque-Miscou) – Deputy Premier, Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, Minister responsible for La Francophonie;

Trevor Holder (Portland-Simonds) – Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour;

Carl Urquhart (Carleton-York) – Minister of Public Safety, Solicitor General;

Dorothy Shephard (Saint John Lancaster) – Minister of Social Development, Minister responsible for the Economic and Social Inclusion Corporation;

Jake Stewart (Southwest Miramichi-Bay du Vin) – Minister of Aboriginal Affairs;

Ross Wetmore (Gagetown-Petitcodiac) – Minister of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries;

Sherry Wilson (Moncton Southwest) – Minister of Service New Brunswick, Minister responsible for Women’s Equality;
