Canadians could soon have to make a slight adjustment to their national anthem.
The Senate approved legislation yesterday, that will make O’Canada more gender neutral.

The second line of the anthem would change to “in all of us command” instead of “in all thy sons command.”
What a dramatic night in the Senate . The national anthem bill with the new gender equality words “in all of us command “ just passed . The bill will become law.
A big thank you to Frances Lankin &Chantal Petitclerc. Mauril Belanger my dear friend may you finally Rest In Peace. pic.twitter.com/t2Oid8CPj7— Jim Munson (@SenatorMunson) January 31, 2018
To become law, this legislation needs formal royal assent.
This change has been an ongoing discussion since it was introduced by Liberal MP Mauril Belanger in 2015. He passed away of ALS later that year.
We are happy to see the Bill C-210 has passed in both the House and the @SenateCA. Mauril’s dedication to a gender-neutral National Anthem will serve as a legacy for generations to come. #cdnpoli pic.twitter.com/bIGPmjjcX4
