A woman who was hospitalized after a fire in a Church Street home, remains in hospital, but her family has started the hunt for a new place for her to live.
They’ve reached out to Big Hearts, Small City.
Founder Jason Surette says the woman has MS, and was almost trapped in her home, because she had to use stairs. They’d like to find her a home that is more accessible, “Our main priority is trying to find a wheelchair accessible apartment. She has MS and she has severe mobility issues, so we’re trying to find something where she is able to get around easier with her walker and get in and out without stairs.”
Surette says they are looking for a one or two bedroom apartment that is wheelchair accessible for $700 a month that has utilities included.
Once they find her a new home, the next step will be to fill that home, with furniture, and other living necessities, and Surette says, “We hope to make this a much better Christmas for the woman and her boyfriend.”
