Auditor-General’s Report On Inflated Property Tax Assessments Next Thursday

The property tax assessment fiasco will become front and centre again next Thursday.

That’s when provincial Auditor-General Kim MacPherson will be presenting a report to the Legislature on what happened with inflated assessments being issued.

The MLA for New Maryland-Sunbury Jeff Carr says judging by the Service New Brunswick documents that have come to light, we know a lot already about how the system was fast tracked at the instigation of Premier Brian Gallant.

More than 15 thousand property owners in the province appealed their assessments. The Premier is promising independent assessments, saying there have been problems with the system for years.

Property tax assessments next year will be frozen.
