Atlanticade Rolls Into Moncton For 10th Year

An event that has attracted up to 10 thousand motorcyclists to our city, gets underway today.

It’s the 10th annual Atlanticade event.

The main street party in downtown Moncton is planned for 6 tonight, and the fun will continue with lots of entertainment and socializing.

Chairman Dale Hicks says they see riders of all ages, from 16 years old to 90, “It’s a hobby of a passion, but a lot of people who ride say it is a stress release. To get on the bike and get out on the road, with the fresh air and the smell of the outdoors, it’s a relaxing thing for people to do.”

Atlanticade attracts motorcycle enthusiasts from Canada and the United States.

Hicks says a lot people take great pride in their bikes, and want to show them off. There are a lot of unique things to see, whether it be a great paint job or an unusual trailer that is being pulled behind it, “You always see someone show up with some sort of contraption. We had one guy show up one year, and he was pulling a casket behind his bike, it was his trailer.” He says the public can come down and take a look at all of the bikes on display.

Events will continue until Sunday. You should take note of road closures, if you are planning to head downtown.

Atlanticade has also partnered with RibFest again this year, which will get underway on Friday.
