Atlantic Liberal Caucus says Justin Trudeau must resign

Another call for the Prime Minister to resign, this time from the Atlantic Liberal Caucus.

The Caucus Chair has sent a letter to Justin Trudeau stating the need for him to step down.

“Prime Minister, your leadership throughout the past nine years will absolutely leave a positive and consequential legacy on Canada. Our colleagues this morning discussed their deep personal affection for you, their pride in our work as a Liberal team, but also their deep concern that without a leadership change that progress will be lost under a Pierre Poilievre lead government,” the letter from Caucus Chair and Nova Scotia MP Kody Blois states.

It also asks for a meeting with the National Caucus Chair, calling for an urgent meeting in early January to discuss the next steps and to decide whether the Caucus should be involved in appointing an interim leader.

“Simply put, time is of the essence and our Caucus is of the view that it is not tenable for you to remain as the Leader and that we need to allow for the necessary conversations on transition to take place.”

The letter to the Prime Minister is dated December 23 and was shared on social media by Liberal Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long.
