Atlantic Chamber Wants NB To Lift Fracking Moratorium

The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce believes most New Brunswickers support hydraulic fracturing and a rally in Sussex has conveyed that message.

CEO Valerie Roy says businesses say they are suffering in a region already impacted by closures including the potash mine.

Roy says it’s time for the Gallant government to lift its shale gas moratorium.

“We feel there is no reason for the government to extend the moratorium it put into place when it was elected. Even the (New Brunswick hydraulic fracturing) commission didn’t provide any real evidence that it shouldn’t go forward,” she notes.

Roy adds the Atlantic Chamber supports the responsible development of resources and fracking is just one component of that.
