The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce said businesses should expect steady conditions as governments prepare to review the Canada‑U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).
Recent comments from U.S. President Donald Trump have raised questions about the future of the trade deal, but the chamber emphasized that the agreement remains in place.
The chamber explained no changes will take effect when the six‑year review opens on Wednesday and that the date marks the start of a formal process set out in the agreement.
Any potential changes to CUSMA would require lengthy negotiations involving all three countries, according to the chamber.
It also highlighted that businesses should continue operating under the current rules as governments begin the review.
Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc is scheduled to meet U.S. and Mexican officials on Wednesday to begin discussions tied to the review, which is part of the regular process required under the agreement.
The chamber will continue to monitor developments and share information with businesses as the review moves forward.
