Atlantic Canada Premiers Meet In PEI

Premiers from across Atlantic Canada met in Charlottetown this week.

They took part in the 33rd meeting of the Council of Atlantic Premiers.

Some of the main topics of discussion included energy, health and international trade.

In energy, the premiers recognized an opportunity for greenhouse gas reductions and economic development across the four provinces.

They also talked about the importance of working together to maximize clean energy resources.

The Premiers also recognized the challenges Atlantic Canada is facing in health care. with the aging population.

In regards to international; trade, they plan to collaborate the four provinces in common interest areas to support further business growth and job creation.

The Council of Atlantic Premiers was hosted by Prince Edward Island Premier Wade MacLauchlan who welcomed Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil, New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs, and Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Dwight Ball.
