Artslink NB is hoping to see better access to arts education at New Brunswick’s Anglophone schools.
A survey was distributed and town hall meetings were held in the spring for parents and teachers.
Executive Director Gillian Dykeman says the results have been compiled, “This round is a reporting back on what we found, both at the town halls and on an online survey. We also did a research report that we commissioned during the summer, and a literature review on arts education. There were twelve recommendations. We are sharing those at the town halls this round, talking about the rational behind them and talking about what researchers found. They’ll also discuss the things that have already happened as a result of the research.”
A town hall meeting will be held Wednesday night at the Aberdeen Cultural Centre starting at 6pm.

“This project does involve working with the department of education and early childhood development with their fine arts lead. She has already been able to respond to some of the most pressing needs that were articulated during the last round of town halls and has come through in some of the recommendations,” Dykeman says.
Meetings have already been held in Saint John and Fredericton. Wednesday’s meeting is in Moncton and a final town hall will be held in Miramichi tomorrow night at the Anglophone School District North Office.
