If you venture outside today, you’re being advised to dress warmly in layers.
All of New Brunswick remains under an extreme cold warning thanks to an Arctic-like air mass with bitterly cold wind chills of -35 or lower.
If any skin is exposed for even a few minutes, you’re putting yourself at risk for frostbite.
All schools in the Southeast region were closed today due to the extreme cold.
Environment Canada meteorologist Claude Cote says dangerous wind chills will continue throughout the day.
“Conditions will improve a bit in the evening. But again the same cold Arctic air mass (is in place). Saturday morning when you wake up, it will still be around -20 C but winds will be light,” he notes.
By Sunday, Cote adds an incredible warm-up is on the way with temperatures well above freezing and well above normal.
