Another Heat Warning Issued In N.B.

If you’re not a fan of the heat and humidity, these next couple of days won’t be your cup of tea.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for most of the province, except for the Fundy coast.

The Department of Health has also issued a Level 1 heat alert for Sunday and Monday across most of New Brunswick.

Meteorologist Jeffrey Hilliard says daytime highs will be in the low 30s on Sunday and Monday and the humidex values on Monday will be between 34 and 38.

Hilliard says it will also be very warm tonight with overnight lows struggling to fall below 18 degrees.

“A lot of people have trouble at nighttime sleeping, that kind of thing, if they’re not using AC,” says Hilliard. “Everybody likes a nice warm day, but if it’s not going to cool off that much at night, that could be an issue for some people.”

Hilliard says it won’t be as humid as last week was and this latest round of hot weather won’t last as long.

He says a cold front will move through on Tuesday and bring a return to more seasonal temperatures.

“[Daytime] temperatures in the low 20s — 21, 22, 23 — and overnight lows of around 12 to 14,” says Hilliard.

Heat warnings are issued in New Brunswick when highs are forecast to reach 30°C or more for at least two days with overnight lows above 18°C, or when humidex values are expected to reach 36 or higher for at least two days.
