American Man Charged In Crash Which Killed A Mountie

A 31-year-old American man is facing two charges under the Motor Vehicle Act in a highway crash which claimed the life a Nova Scotia Mountie.

Vasiliy Meshko from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania has been charged with driving without due care and attention along with failing to move over.

He was represented in Moncton Provincial Court today by his lawyer who requested an adjournment until tomorrow to enter a plea.

RCMP conducted a thorough investigation and determined there was not enough evidence to lay criminal charges.

While stopping to help a stranded motorist, Constable Frank Deschênes was struck and killed on September 12th on the Trans Canada Highway near Memramcook.
