The advanced care paramedic program in New Brunswick was recently expanded and more staff will be needed.
Ambulance NB spokesperson Eric Beairsto says ultimately the plan is to roll out the advanced program to more communities.
“That is the idea. So we start out like this and we move through what makes sense for us in the province,” he notes.
Beairsto says Ambulance NB is limited in its expansion efforts by staff shortages which he adds is a factor in the primary care world.
Sixteen advanced care paramedics are now working in Moncton, Saint John, and Bathurst.
