All of N.B. under burn ban

As temperatures continue to rise across New Brunswick, so does the risk of wildfires.

The Department of Natural Resources issued a province-wide burn ban on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said no burning will be permitted until at least 2 p.m. on Thursday.

Individual municipalities will have their own restrictions, so you should check with your local municipal office.

The fire danger was listed as high or very high across much of the province as of early Wednesday afternoon.

This is the second province-wide burn ban of the year, with the first taking place for two days in mid-May.

New Brunswick is dealing with an above-normal forest fire season so far this year.

A total of 190 fires have burned 174 hectares of forested area as of Wednesday afternoon.

That is compared to the 10-year average of 160 fires and 328 hectares burned.
