Codiac Regional RCMP Supt. Ron DeSilva will no longer put the term “acting” before his title, he announced at Moncton City Council on Monday.
“I guess I can say when I did get the offer to come to Codiac permanently, it wasn’t a hard decision to make,” DeSilva said at the start of his regular update to council.
“A big part of it also was the cooperation with all the three city councils and many of the community partners.”
As officer in charge, DeSilva oversees the regional police force responsible for Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe.
The role was filled by DeSilva after former Supt. Tom Critchlow announced in the Spring he would be retiring.
