Accidents Plague Roadways Again Today

An accident on the Trans Canada Highway near Havelock had vehicles stuck for several hours.

RCMP say a transport truck jackknifed and it is blocking the westbound lanes of the highway.

Corporal Ryan Lewis says, “We are trying to get the traffic turned around, but it is going to take time. This is the worst I have ever seen the roads. There is two to three inches of ice on the roadways.”

The highway reopened at around 10:20am

Several other accidents have been reported today, including one on Elmwood Road near Scotch Settlement. Reports says it involved several vehicles. It had traffic backed up this morning.

Another accident on the Trans Canada near the Mapleton Road exit, also caused traffic tieups.

Motorists are advised not to travel today if they don’t have to.
