The danger appears to be over at Ohio State University in Columbus.
The University tweeted there was an active shooter on the campus this morning.
News reports say the suspect is dead and as many as eight people were taken to hospital.
At the height of the emergency students were advised find shelter.
However the University is now saying the scene is now secure and the shelter order has been lifted.
