New Brunswick Baby Meets 17 Pound Lester The Lobster

A photo of a New Brunswick baby sitting on a lobster is creating a sensation online.

Fisherman Nathan Crawford caught a 17-pound lobster while fishing on Canada Day in Black River near Garnett Settlement.

His wife, Christine Crawford, says she thought it would be fun to compare the size of their son Ace and the lobster known as Lester so he put the baby on the live lobster.

“He thought it would be really neat when he gets older to show him, ‘Look at the size of this lobster, it’s bigger than you were at six-months-old.” Crawford said.

She says her son was very curious about the lobster.

“He kept looking at it and he kept putting his hands on his tail and the back. Just kinda really looking at it like ‘what is this thing?’ ” Crawford said.

Crawford says her son was never in danger while sitting on the lobster adding he was only there for a few seconds and the crustacean’s front claws were banded.

She says it’s about showing Ace what may be his future.

“Introduce him to something that hopefully he’ll take over when he’s older because his dad took it over from his grandfather so, it would be pretty cool to have Ace in the fishing industry as well.” Crawford said.
