A Higher Deficit Makes Reaching Balanced Books Even Harder

The Gallant Liberals revealing that the provincial deficit is higher than originally thought.

It’s now going to be 466 million dollars–13 million dollars higher that what was forecast late last year.

Kevin Lacey of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation says the problem is that this government keeps spending money and raising taxes.

He says are all hoping that we will get to a balanced budget but realistically the government has not taken the aggressive measures necessary to get us to that date.

Lacey says the higher deficit means our kids will inherit the burden of our debt and impact the ability of future New Brunswickers to afford investments in education, healthcare and infrastructure.
