Rampersaud Running For Riverview Mayor

Another candidate has thrown their hat in the ring to become the next mayor of Riverview in the May municipal election.

Tammy Rampersaud has been councillor-at-large for five years and served as deputy mayor for a year.

She previously announced plans to run but the pandemic postponed the vote and she now feels more confident than ever to lead the town.

“Although this past year has been difficult and full of uncertainties due to COVID, it’s an exciting time in Riverview,” she says.

“Many people are choosing to live here to enjoy our quality of life. It’s important to protect that through sustainable and fiscally responsible, smart growth that is affordable for everyone. Riverview needs a leader to advocate, and build on working with staff and counterparts, while being open and honest with residents. I’m committed to being that full time leader.”

Rampersaud moved to Riverview in 2007 and soon became actively involved in the community through parent and school support committees.

She was founder of 100 Kids Who Care Riverview and co-chair of 100 Women Who Care Greater Moncton.

She has sat on a number of boards and committees along with provincial roundtables and working groups.

Rampersaud has also been a strong proponent of the town’s new recreation facility.

Fellow councillor-at-large Andrew J. LeBlanc also recently announced his intention to run for mayor in May.

After the past year, current mayor Ann Seamans recently decided to retire from public life to spend more time with family and friends.
