A survey conducted by Narrative Research found that social and travel restrictions were the largest negative impacts in 2020. The survey received answers from 2,512 participants across Atlantic Canada.
Inhabitants of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick were most likely to report social restriction as a negative impact. While PEI felt more impacted by the travel restrictions. The loss of a job or income were the third and fourth most popular answers.
It’s almost certain that 2020 will be remembered for the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the survey shows that almost all Atlantic Canadians could still find a silver lining. The most popular answer was the increase in focus on supporting local, followed by seeing health professionals online , connecting with family members, and being a community.
