Support Services Available For Staff And Students At RHS

Riverview High students will be staying home again today, but it will be for a day of at home learning virtually.

Many are still in shock after a shooting on Tuesday left a teacher in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

In a letter to parents and students yesterday, it informed them of the other teachers that came to the aid of their coworker while waiting for emergency services to arrives.

It adds that the injured teacher and his family appreciate the overwhelming support from the community and that he is doing well.

Support services are being offered to students and staff who need it, through in-person and telephone counselling services.

Groups and other schools are rallying together Thursday and Friday, and students and staff are being encouraged to wear red in support of RHS.

Twenty-four-year-old Janson Bryan Baker was arrested in Amherst, Nova Scotia yesterday afternoon after a manhunt that lasted around 19 hours.
