One New COVID-19 Case Monday

Public Health reported one new case of COVID-19 in the Fredericton health zone Monday.

The new case is a close contact of a previous one, and involves someone in their 50s that is self-isolating.

The province also announced 1,034 more front-line health care workers received the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

In a statement from the province, Dr. Jennifer Russell warned against non-essential travel outside of New Brunswick.

“We are seeing more travel-related cases and transmission to household members when self-isolation measures are not strictly adhered to so it is imperative that everyone who is self-isolating continue to follow Public Health’s self-isolation guidance and self-isolate for the full 14 days,” her statement reads.

Three patients are in New Brunswick hospitals with COVID-19, two of which are in intensive care.

There are now 33 active cases in the province, down from 34 Sunday.
