The Anglophone East School District has provided an update about an earlier advisory regarding school crossing guards in Moncton.
“We have just learned the City of Moncton has reached a temporary solution regarding the Crossing Guards for Moncton area schools. Crosswalks will have attendants working tomorrow and in the future. We will be deleting the previous post to avoid any confusion. Thank you.”

Moncton City Council discussed this issue at a regular council meeting on Monday night.
A statement was released a short time ago through the City of Moncton’s social media:
“The City did provide a 30-day contract termination notice on Friday to the current vendor providing the service for all crossing locations.
This notice follows our contractual obligations.
We were awarding a contract to a subsequent vendor with at starting date of January 4 during tonight’s Regular Council Meeting.
Unfortunately, the current vendor decided to pull all of his employees immediately (today) without fulfilling his 30-day notice period.
The crosswalks will continue to be manned.
We have also received notice from the Codiac RCMP Superintendent that they will assist the city to bridge any gap.
Additional information will be provided to the school districts.”
