Fire Substantially Damages Triplex on Lefurgey Avenue

No word on a cause yet for a fire in a triplex near the Moncton Hospital.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Dennis Dollemont says the fire started at around 6:30 Friday morning.

It was reported by a neighbour.

Flames could be seen on the outside of the Lefurgey Avenue home when firefighters arrived.

They had to wait for NB Power to arrive because of arcing wires in the electrical services.

Dollemont says the fire got into the walls, but they finally managed to get it under control in the attic area.

One man got out uninjured.

Dollemont says around 18 firefighters battled the blaze at one point.

The home has substantial damage.
