A 56-year-old Elgin man will spend two years in jail after pleading guilty to charges involving images of child sexual abuse.
Mounties say the investigation began in March 2018 based on information received from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre.
In November 2018, police searched a home in Elgin and seized several electronic devices and a man was arrested at the scene.
Gregory George Shaffer was charged with several child pornography-related offences and was sentenced on November 4.
Shaffer has been added to the National Sex Offender Registry and will be required to submit a DNA sample.
Upon release from jail, he will have to abide by court conditions including not accessing the internet.
