What Kids Need Moncton Founder Amanda Pooley says the annual campaign that provides toys and clothing to children at Christmas recently received the news they won’t be able to work out of the same location this year.
“It was only a couple of days ago we found out the the tennis club is not going to be available, so now we have less than a week to find a location.”
The Snowflake Station campaign usually starts on November 1st.
She says they’d prefer a place that is centrally located, “That way it would be easy for families to come and pick their packages up. At least a thousand square feet, because of COVID restrictions. We have to make sure we have enough space to be able to get groups of volunteers in, or the presents aren’t going to be ready on time. Ideally on a ground floor because there is a lot of moving stuff in and out. It would be convenient for people who want to drop off donations or come in and volunteer. At this point, we’re just looking for anything we can make work.”
This is the ninth year for the campaign. Pooley says the first year, they helped 27 children, that grew to over 1100 last year.
