Moncton Santa Claus Parade Cancelled

Greater Moncton’s annual Santa Claus Parade has been cancelled.

The volunteer organizing committee says health and safety issues surrounding COVID-19 means the event cannot go ahead next month.

A stationary parade in the Moncton Coliseum parking lot had been planned but volunteers who would be on the floats had a number of concerns.

Parade president Alex Morton is thanking the committee for their hard work since the spring and says the focus now is next year’s event.

The Royale Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade typically attracts about 100,000 and is touted as the largest Santa Claus Parade east of Montreal.

Children are reminded letters to Santa can be dropped in any mailbox and residents are urged to make holiday donations to Food Depot Alimentaire.
