Large Warehouse Fire Considered Suspicious

The smell of smoke from a large warehouse fire in central Moncton carried for kilometres overnight.

Moncton fire Platoon Chief Dennis Dollemont says there found heavy fire in a portion of the Barker Street building when they arrived on scene at around 8pm last night.

The flames quickly spread through the structure that was full of old building materials.

Firefighters switched to defensive mode.

Dollemont says it burned intensely for around four hours, and they are still putting out hot spots this morning.

The building is completely destroyed.

There’s no word on a cause yet, but Dollemont says it is suspicious.
