Outgoing Councillor Leaves Vacancy On Moncton City Council

There’s an empty seat on Moncton City Council as MLA-elect Greg Turner makes the transition from councillor at large to provincial politics.

Mayor Dawn Arnold highlighted some of Turner’s work as councillor-at-large.

“We really thank you for your service and have some really big shoes to fill. I will be actively for people to serve on the MID board, Dowtown Moncton, Events Moncton, the Market, and the list goes on,” she says.

Turner says the role provided a great learning experience.

“We’ve had some great challenges that we’ve faced together. Sometimes you’re on the winning side and sometimes you’re on the losing side but at the end of the day we’re all doing what we feel is right for the citizens of Moncton

He thanks residents for giving him the opportunity to serve them on council.

Mayor Arnold says it is not anticipated that there will be a by-election, meaning the seat will remain empty until the next municipal election.
