Two men, aged 37 and 47, have been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure of loaded firearms and illegal cigarettes.
On Thursday afternoon, members of the Codiac RCMP stopped a vehicle on Champlain Street in Dieppe, as part of an ongoing investigation.
During the stop, police noticed a firearm and contraband cigarettes in the vehicle and searched of the vehicle.
Police confiscated two loaded firearms, a replica firearm, and a case of illegal cigarettes and also determined vehicle had a stolen licence plate.
The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested without incident.
Yesterday, Jonathan Richard, of Dieppe, and Carl Stultz, of Moncton appeared in court and were each charged with one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.
Both are in custody and scheduled to return to court later this month.
