Shediac Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A man from Shediac has been charged with attempted murder following what police believe was not a random incident.

On August 11th, Shediac RCMP responded to a report of a man on a bicycle having been struck by a vehicle in a Main Street parking lot.

When they arrived, both the suspect and the victim had left the scene on foot but the vehicle and bicycle were left at the scene.

Police located the victim, a 45-year-old man from Shediac, was later located at his residence and transported to hospital to be treated for injuries.

On Thursday morning, a 38-year-old man was arrested without incident at a home on Providence Street in Shediac.

Yesterday, Shawn Cormier appeared in court and was charged with attempted murder.

He is in custody and scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on Tuesday for a bail hearing.
