Residents are invited to attend the grand reopening of the Lion Ken Gabbey pool in Riverview.
The outdoor pool in Riverview closed for a 1.3 million dollar renovation project at the end of last summer but will be reopening on Friday.
The renovation has improved accessibility for visitors and extended the life of the pool by another 25 years.
Upgrades include:
- A redesigned entrance roadway, outdoor gathering space and site aesthetics;
- A new facility that includes a gender-neutral change room and improved staff areas;
- Exterior washrooms to support the baseball field and future planned activities/facilities;
- Upgraded accessibility components, such as a pool ramp;
- Improvements to the pool deck, basin, mechanicals and pool heating systems.
To mrake the reopening, residents are invited to take part in this season’s ‘fun-jump’, which can be themed, coordinated or costumed.
Treats and prizes will also be available and photos will be taken on site.
The event is happening from 1pm to 2:30pm and pre-registration online is a must.
Aside from the grand opening on Friday, the pool will be opening to the public officially on Saturday, August 8.
The outdoor pool will also offer lane and recreational open swims. Pre-booking is recommended as spaces are limited.
