Travellers Urged To Stay Safe This Long Weekend

Don’t become a statistic this long weekend.

New Brunswick RCMP are passing along that message with more traffic on the highways during the holiday break.

Mounties say impaired driving, speeding and not wearing seatbelts are three contributing factors in fatal collisions in the province.

Of the almost 10,000 collisions that RCMP responded to in 2019, 78 people died and 48 weren’t wearing seatbelts or were under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Provincial figures show about 15,000 personal and commercial vehicles entered New Brunswick on Saturday and about 10,000 on Sunday.
