Family Feels Violated After Robbery At Indian Mountain Area Home

A family has been left with an uneasy feeling after learning their home on Indian Mountain had been robbed.

Tim Churchill says it started last Tuesday, when he got a call at work from the kids asking if he was home, because they heard what sounded like someone upstairs.

“When I told them I wasn’t, they assumed it was my father, because he was coming over to the house. When one of the kids came upstairs, the side door was open, but we didn’t think anything of it, because sometimes that door doesn’t latch tight. Everything appeared to be intact,” Churchill says.

He says it wasn’t until a few days later, his wife discovered a lot of items had been taken, “Marley discovered her jewelry was missing. So, we started looking and we were missing passports and Medicare cards for kids and all of that stuff.”

A lot of the missing items have sentimental value, and Marley is devastated.

Churchill says they reported the incident to police and an investigation is underway.

“We feel violated, I guess that’s the best word. Your house is supposed to be your sanctuary or your safe haven. You just never think it is going to happen to you,” Churchill says.

He says they have uneasiness being in the home now.

Churchill also pointed out, “The weird thing about our place is that, nothing was disturbed, you’d never know. The information that was taken, was taken selectively, which would almost indicate that it was someone who knew us, that’s the unnerving part.”

He adds, “It’s a reminder that we need to keep the doors locked all the time. We’re going to invest in a camera system, that has storage capability and transmits to the phone.”

Churchill and his wife have been checking pawn stores and other online selling sites, in the hopes that she’ll be able to recover something. In a Facebook post, Marley says, “Chances are, it’s all long gone. But if you happen to notice anything similar to the pictures on any groups, please let me know. I’d be forever grateful.”

If you have any information about the missing items, you should contact the RCMP or the family.
