Happiness Rocks In Dieppe

Over 500 painted river rocks will be hidden on Dieppe’s parks and trails this week.

It’s a part of the Happiness Rocks public art project.

“We’ve done a lot of public art initiatives in the past few years but this year, being what it is, we couldn’t do anything that was gathering in nature. Everyone needs a little love right now and happiness in their lives,”Dieppe Community Officer Gabrielle Maillet says.

The rocks all have message of hope, in the form of paint.

“They are all rocks that really make you smile. They all reflect something that we have seen. A sunset, or a certain flower or a community activity that identifies out community,” Maillet says.

Residents are invited to search for the rocks starting on Wednesday, July 22.

All of the artwork on the rock has been painted by two local artists.

“We secured a thousand river rocks that vary in size. The theme was that the painted rocks must represent Dieppe. Around 500 will be hidden and we will save the others for another time, ” Maillet says.

Once you find a rock, you are invited to bring one home.
